Funimation fails at C&Ds

By Moogy | November 25, 2008

Blah blah Funimation sent out C&Ds for some random shows to the groups who subbed them.

Apparently they succeeded at making Tadashi stop. But that’s not the point here.

You see, I am in the sole group who completed English subs of Mushi-Uta, one of the shows that was supposedly C&D’d. But, the thing is – none of us have received any sort of C&D. Probably because we don’t have an email or a site and thus can’t really be C&D’d! The tracker with the batch torrent (still seeded and leeched) on it does in fact have an address for C&D people to contact, but the owner of that did not receive a C&D either.

So, my question is – who exactly did Funimation C&D over this show? It sure wasn’t the group that subbed it! Or even the people who distro’d it! Maybe they C&D’d AnimeOmake? They subbed episodes 1-6. Or those Spanish dudes who translated from our subs.

It aired during Summer 2007, so it’s not like it’s in high demand right now, anyway.

Seto also has no one to C&D, unless they emailed gg or Ayako or something retarded, considering the show aired in Spring 2007 and everyone except Your-Mom dropped it. Shinsen is still doing it but under an alias with no contact details. Perhaps they sent one to m33w? They subbed an episode recently.

I’m thinking that the article may have been poorly worded – Funimation may have sent C&Ds to trackers like BoxTorrents and Datorrents…? It specifically mentions C&Ding fansubbers, though, and they definitely hit Tadashi, so who knows.

So yeah basically Funimation is astoundingly effective at sending C&Ds. Only one currently airing show, even! I’m still not quite sure why Tadashi even agreed to their wishes. He should just remove his blog/contact info, grab some nice .eu distro, and continue releasing. Ah well. Silly, silly R1 companies.

C&Ding fansubbers themselves or their IRC/BT distros is just retarded, since people leeching on those platforms are potentially legit future customers. Don’t they know that they’re dealing with hardcore fans that way, ones that will find the files no matter what they do? They should just stick to C&Ding streaming sites. Easier, less resources required to do.
